Stripping
Safe removal of old Paints, Lacquers and Metal Plating
F.H.Lambert use specialised processes to strip off any old paints, lacquers and metal plating, without damaging the base metal substrate. Any possible rust and oxidisation will also be removed.
This is an essential stage of the renovation and ensures that the item is best prepared to take a new layer of plating. All objects are subsequently polished and cleaned before pre-treatment is applied. See also in the Services section.
As a company policy, F.H.Lambert do not plate onto existing plating that has been applied in the past on an item. We strip and remove existing plating back to the base metal substrate, insuring good adhesion for when the new plating is applied by us. We can however, plate onto existing plating if it is requested by the customer in writing.

Stripping Paints and Lacquers
Paint Stripping
A high strength immersion stripping process for use on all
paint finishes. The process will rapidly strip even highly polymerised paint finishes.
Lacquer Stripping
A large volume, high strength, ultra safe immersion stripping process for use on all
lacquer finishes. Suitable for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Stripping Metal Plating
Gold Stripping
A high speed, immersion stripping process for the removal of gold and gold alloys from all base metal substrates without negligible attack.
Silver Stripping
A unique, large volume, electrolytic stripping process for the removal of silver from all base metal substrates, particually brass, copper and copper alloys without negligible attack.
Used mainly for brass musical instruments; F.H.Lambert has this unique specialised process where the existing silver plating is stripped off completely without damaging the brass substrate.
The overhaul process then begins with ensuring a levelled polished surface; risk-free of any blistering, for when the instrument comes to be either re-silver plated or laquared again.
Chrome Stripping
A large volume, electrolytic stripping process for the safe removal of chrome from plated nickel without negligible attack.
Nickel Stripping
A unique, large volume, immersion stripping process for the safe removal of nickel and nickel alloys from all base metal substrates, particularly brass, mild steel, copper and copper alloys without negligible attack.
Copper Stripping
An large volume, immersion stripping process for the removal of copper and copper alloys from most base metal substrates without negligible attack.
Anodise Stripping
A high speed, immersion stripping process for the removal of anodising from all aluminium and aluminium alloys.
Miscellaneous Stripping
F.H.Lambert can also strip many other types of metal plating from ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
