Metal Finishing - Decorative Metal Finishing
Surface Finishes
Whatever your requirements on any
given fabrications or components we are able to
offer you a wide range of quality metal finishes for
you to choose from, however, we can arrange to have finishing samples matched as close as possible to that of a sample provided.

 |
Polished
P
A mirror like opulent finish that reflects light, making spaces look larger and brighter. The F.H.Lambert process gradually brings the metal to a shine before utilising a 'rouge' compound, thus producing the highest quality metal finish possible. |

 |
 |
Satin
S
A contemporary brushed finish, which can be applied in different grades of coarseness. It is resistant to marking and therefore useful for items that will be routinely handled. |

 |
 |
Matt
M
A frosted low sheen effect achieved by bead blasting and subsequently lacquering the plated coating. Especially resilient to finger marks. |

 |
 |
Pearlite
PRL
A finish that gives a pearlescent appearance. It has a slightly uneven tone, with the edges shinier than the middle. Excellent for resisting smudges and fingerprints. |

Antique Satin
ATQ
Antiquing is a process where a dark coating is applied over the plating and is then brushed so that the plated layer shows through the brush marks. This achieves an aged look, suitable for period décor, but also very contemporary subtle interiors. Most types of golds and nickel can have antique satin finishes applied. |

There are a number of additional variations available for silver and copper coatings:
 |
 |
Tarnish
TRN
Silver antique finishes can either be satin, or have a light 'Old Cutlery' tarnish finish. A natural sheen look can be achieved with a wax coating. See also in the Processes section.
Copper and Brass tarnishing also come in light 'Old English' and 'Medium Bronze'. All Copper and Brass antiques can be finished with a protective clear coating to preserve the effect. Alternatively a wax coating can be applied for a softer sheen. See also in the Processes section. |

There is a choice of coatings that can be applied to each finish:
Protective lacquer baked coating
A spray booth oven provides a dust free environment for an excellent quality of lacquer application. Baking the lacquers provides a harder and more durable layer, offering greater resistance to wear and oxidisation of the plating. It is also possible to add protective lacquers to nonplated metal objects that have been tarnished. See also in the Processes section.
Clear Protection Inhibitor
A special coating process that helps protect the surface from finger-print marks, minor scratching, and corrosion. It has undergone an extensive salt spray and heat treatment testing for aviation approvals. The clear protection inhibitor is invisible, and does not alter the original overall appearance of plated or nonplated surface. See also in the Processes section.
Protective wax coating
An acid free coating which helps preserve the finish while providing a low sheen effect.
